Storage sheds can be seen in many homes, and for a good reason. Sheds are the best storage solution for many households. If you are looking for a way to organize your home or garage, buying or building a shed can be the answer to this problem.
If you need to free up some room in your house or garage, investing in a prefabricated storage shed kit can be the fastest and the easiest way to get this done. One of the most common place to place a shed is the backyard. Depending on the size, type, and how yow you plan to use this space, you can decide on the best location. For storing your gardening tools, a small garden shed can be an ideal investment. If you need a place to store your patio furniture during the winter, make sure to measure accordantly to select the proper size.
Prefabricated storage sheds are sold in a variety of styles, sizes, and material. Vinyl, metal, wood, and plastic are among the most common materials used. Depending on your needs and budget you can choose the best one that will meet your needs.
Vinyl sheds are are very low maintenance. These sheds will last many years. Unlike a wood shed, vinyl will not rot, or rust like a metal shed.
Metal sheds are the best choice if you don't want to spend to much money, they are among the most economical sheds. When buying metal storages, always make sure it is rust resistant, and it carries a rust resistant warranty.
Wood sheds are among the most attractive in appearance. Wood sheds are very durable, they can handle strong winds and heavy loads such as snow. These sheds can easily be shingled and painted to match your house.
Most prefabricated storage kits will come complete with foundations, doors and windows, with some you may have to purchase separately. There are also some kits that include workbenches and shelves. Arrow, Duramax, Rubbermaid, Suncast, and Handy Home Products are some of the most popular brands for prefabricated sheds.
Buying a prefabricated shed can be easier and less frustrating than buying lumber and building a shed from scratch. These kits are simple to assemble using common household tools. Depending on style and brand, it can be more affordable buying a shed kit, instead of building one from scratch. Buying lumber and building the shed from scratch can take longer and it may also be more expensive. By following the instructions on the prefab kit, assembly can be done in a weekend.
Now that you have chosen a shed that has met your requirements, and have set it up, it will be time to take the clutter out of your home and garage and start organizing. Storing items that are not regularly used can free up space and have your home or garage free of clutter. By having a storage shed you will be able to organize your home and garage, solving any clutter problems you might have.

Working with customers ASK HOMES supplies custom architecturally designed homes in a "Kit" form and helps you every step of the way to build your home to completion. The idea is to show you how to save as much money as physically possible by getting as involved as you like. That's what "KIT HOMES" are all about. Homes are priced as kits which include the structural and very basic finishes but do not come with personal choice items such as kitchens, tiles and bathrooms or any form of labour....

Over the years many developers, builders and architects have put their focus on creating environmentally responsible or sustainable buildings. Steel buildings fit these requirements beautifully! Using a steel building for your next building is an environmentally sound choice as well as a safe one, as steel can be recycled and then remanufactured into new pieces that retain their structural integrity. Steel offers many advantages over wood-frame construction over and above their environmental benefits. In the past steel was primarily used for railroads and automobiles, today though it is quickly becoming the choice material for new buildings. Due to steel’s resistance to both fire and earthquake it is a favorite building material for areas where these risks are predominant, such as California and Hawaii.Steel is lightweight, making it easier to work with and cheaper to ship and store than lumber. Steel buildings are also easier to carry and move around a jobsite, so there is less strain put on construction workers who are putting together steel buildings. Steel buildings are manufactured to strict standards to ensure quality, and they do not contain twists or knots like traditional building materials, nor will they ever get them so you’re building with straight parts when you build a steel building which of course, saves in labor and frustration.Construction-grade steel already uses approximately 70% recycled content and generates very little waste during production. In fact, Absolute Steel buildings are certified to be 67% recycled materials. It is noncombustible and also resists insect infestation. When the steel is no longer needed (such as when a building is demolished) it can be fully recycled into new steel products.Steel buildings are non-toxic and don’t off-gas, keeping the indoor air free of contaminants. It had a rigid composition that makes it the perfect choice for building in a high-wind area. Steel buildings do not absorb water or dry out so one never has to worry about cracking or rotting during the lifetime of the building.Did you know steel is the most recycled material in the whole world, since any type of steel can be recycled endless times to make new steel products? It takes 75% less energy to produce recycled steel than new steel. In fact, for every ton of recycled steel produced, 2500lbs of iron ore is saved as well as 1000lbs of coal and 40lbs of limestone.Steel is certainly the product that should be used to build a strong building, as it will not warp, split or rot, will not grow mold and is extremely resistant to wind, fire and insects. Steel also has about a 200 year lifespan, giving steel buildings more longevity than their lumber-built counterparts.Although on the surface it would appear that steel framing is more expensive than wood, building with steel offers many advantages that certainly offset the cost. Steel allows for different, more complex designs and hold up better in extreme climates, which in turn leads to lower insurance premiums. In closing, steel buildings are more energy efficient, have minimal maintenance, and are certainly more environmentally friendly than their wood counterparts. Old steel buildings that are no long maintainable can be 100% recycled into new building materials with a minimum of effect on the environment. If you are considering a switch to a building material that helps the environment while providing a safe and secure place for your business or family then a steel building should be at the top of your list.

If you are in need of a new building, whether for work or home then you should certainly consider a steel building. Buildings that are constructed with steel are durable, long lasting and easy to put together, saving you in material and construction costs. There are many steel building companies that offer steel buildings today but most of them are brokers, not the actual fabricator like Absolute Steel. While they all offer fairly concise kits that can be trucked to your location along with written instructions and or videos, only with Absolute Steel will you be talking to the “horse’s mouth”. If you have a question and have dealt with a broker, you’re going to be dealing with a salesman in a bullpen so be sure to check the company out you’re going to be dealing with to make sure they have an easy building to erect and that you have knowledgeable people to help you after the sale.Absolute Steel fits the above criteria better than any other company in America!Since you can assemble the entire building yourself, you can save hundreds or thousands of dollars on labor. All you need to do is assemble the frame and attach the exterior panels and trim. Once completed your steel building is virtually maintenance free, and you will never have to worry about common lumber building issues such as insect infestation or rot.Pre-fabricated steel buildings are more efficient to assemble and there is no construction waste as everything you need is pre-cut and welded. Steel buildings can be used for garages, sheds, workshops, warehouses and even airplane hangars and offices. The exterior of a steel building can take on the appearance of wood or stone so it can look as tasteful as the surrounding buildings to blend in.There are hundreds of different shapes and styles of steel buildings to choose from, and nearly every layout imaginable. The building can even be designed so that additions can be easily made in the future as your office, work or family expands.Since steel lasts much longer than conventional building materials it is a great choice for anyone who wants a building that will last a long time. Once erected the steel building is extremely durable and dependable, requiring very little upkeep. In fact, to say they are maintenance free would not be an exaggeration. And for those of you who live in an area of heavy snowfall, with your new strong steel building you will never have to take your life into your hands while shoveling snow off your roof. Most often the snow will simply slide off with just a touch of midday temperature change. When constructing your new steel building, you will find it is much easier to work with than lumber. Not only is steel lighter, there is no chance of warping or knots. All corners in your steel building will be perfectly square. All windows and doors can be installed easily in the pre-cut openings without a leak or faulty seal. Once completed, you can enjoy the use of the building without having concerning yourself with continual upkeep or maintenance. It is not hard to see why steel buildings are becoming much more popular these days, with their easy installation, low maintenance and durability. A steel building can weather the test of time in even extreme conditions such as hot summers and cold winters, not to mention high winds and moist climates. Save yourself time and money with a pre-fabricated tough steel building that Absolute Steel can fabricate to your exact requirements.

Sometimes, moving is something that is necessary. Everything has to be packed up in order to be taken to the new destination. It all has to be loaded in a moving vehicle of some sort only to be unpacked when it reaches the new location. After everything is taken out of the building, you look back at it with sadness because of the fond memories you have, but that is something you must leave behind. Well, you're at least leaving the neighborhood behind.
You stand there watching how these guys are putting the building on the back of an 18 wheeler and you can't wait until it is delivered to the new location that your company acquired. There is more land and more steel buildings to be delivered to the location. Not too many people can move to a location that is ten miles away from them and actually take the building with them.
Depending on the size of the steel building, it can be moved in pieces and put together at its final destination. Sometimes a steel building may be like a storage container that is used as an office. Whatever the reason, there is a process to moving a steel building. It may seem like a mystery to some as to how it is possible to move something so large and so heavy, but the process is rather easy at times.
It doesn't matter if the building is new and just being built or is an existing structure that needs to be moved, it has to be divided up into pieces. When it is a new building, the pieces are built, shipped to the building's destination, and then assembled there. If the building is an existing structure, then it will be divided into the same pieces it was in when it arrived brand new. After this occurs, the following steps take place:
- The pieces are lifted by a building jack apparatus. The buildings are usually built with slots in which the building jack apparatus can be inserted.
- The jack then lifts the building up to a predetermined height, but instead of it being lifted onto the truck, the truck backs up under the lifted building. The jack then lowers the building onto the bed of the trailer.
- When the building meets its destination, the same method can be used to lift the building off of the trailer bed or the trailer bed may be hydraulic and can carefully slide the building off of the back of it. This step depends on whether or not that piece of the building can stand on its own. This process is repeated for all of the pieces. Depending on the size of the building, it can take several trucks to move the building.
However, when moving a steel building that has already been in place for a while, it is necessary to employ a company that has the trucks, the manpower, and the proper tools to move a steel building. Usually, those who actually manufacture them can provide moving services for people who need to move steel buildings, but such services do come with a cost. It is more or less going to depend on how many pieces need transported and the size of the building.
These factors will determine how many trucks are needed, what tools are needed, and how many people need to be involved in the moving effort. It can be quite extensive. At least if anyone has doubts about a steel building being able to be moved, you can contradict them by telling them that you know the basics of how it is done.

Are you handy? Think you can build a gazebo from scratch? There are plenty of gazebo plans available free in libraries and online. There are also blueprints available for fees ranging from $8 to $200. The more expensive gazebo plans are architectural blueprints, which are much more specific and best suited to the experienced contractor. But a talented home improvement buff can make good use of the less expensive options available.

A good free gazebo plan is available from the Build Eazy website. There you will find links to complete plans for 5 basic gazebos of varying sizes and styles to suit most tastes and uses. There plans are free.

There are several things to think about before starting to build a gazebo. You will need some basic carpentry tools such as a level and a screw gun. You will also need a compound miter saw or sliding compound miter saw. These machines afford the angular cutting abilities you will need when fashioning the various sections of the gazebo. The sliding version is best for larger pieces of wood.

You can either bolt the gazebo to a concrete slab or pre-existing wood floor, or you can create the gazebo with a built-in floor. In the latter case, you will need to pour one concrete pier for each post. Contact your local building department to find out how deep the concrete piers should be, and whether there are any underground cables you should try to avoid.

Three kinds of woods are commonly used to build outdoor structures: pine, cedar, and redwood. Pine is the softest and easiest to work with, but it decomposes the fastest. Cedar and redwood are harder and more expensive, but age well.

Alternatively, you can build a metal or vinyl gazebo. But unless you have all the heavy machinery for fabricating the parts, you’ll need to buy a gazebo kit. These come in sections for you to assemble using the included hardware. A level and a screw gun are usually all that are needed. You might need help from a buddy, especially for the roof sections.

There are lots of options when it comes to building your own gazebo, and you don’t have to be a carpentry star to get really good results. And just think, when you’re done building your gazebo, you can sit inside it and just enjoy the shade.

The idea of prefab garage kits is fairly recent, as a matter of fact, the word prefabricated only dates back to 1932. It means "to fabricate the parts of at a factory so that construction consists mainly of assembling and uniting standardized parts". In other words, the pieces are made in a factory to exacting standards, and then the parts are shipped to location where they are assembled.

There are many companies that make prefabricated buildings, but one of the most innovative and leading companies is VersaTube, based out of Tennessee. They were founded in 1994 by Tim Soder and Bruce Ostrander, and are still a privately owned business today. VersaTube's outstanding growth was noted in 2007 when they were recognized by Inc. 5000, making the magazines list of "The Fastest Growing Private Companies in America" based upon revenue growth from 2003 through 2006. Due to their growth, they opened a second manufacturing facility in Arizona, allowing better service to the West Coast.

Now, we live in northern Idaho, not to be mixed up with the southern part of the state where potato's are grown. We are up in lake and mountain country. My husband noted the other day how a majority of homes had a large outbuilding that was used for a garage, shop, equipment storage, extra space or for whatever is needed. There is just so much that you can do with an extra building, so the option of prefab garage kits is wonderful. Besides usefulness, it adds value to your property. And with VersaTube's patented framing system, building your own garage or outbuilding is easier than ever before.

VersaTube prefab garage kits use steel framing. The patented system uses an innovative machined process that VersaTube has termed "swaging". Swaging creates "Slip-Fit" frame connectors in which one piece of the steel framing easily slips into the end of the other piece, no connector insert tubes are needed, which streamlines and simplifies the assembly process.

The steel that VersaTube uses is of the highest quality, heavy duty, galvanized steel. It has three layers of zinc bonding for corrosion protection, and a clear polymer coating to provide a nice looking finish. The triple layer zinc bonding has proven to resist rust two times longer than other steel tubing products.

The idea of steel framing is becoming popular, especially in steel buildings. Steel offers a lot of features, such as being cost effective, it is strong, durable and lightweight, it is long lasting and recyclable, easy to install and is low maintenance. With these and other advantages, VersaTube soon saw the growing need in the market for complete building packages (they originally started out with just the framing system). Besides prefab garage kits, they also offer RV covers, carports, horse barns, loafing sheds, boat slip covers and canopy's. Many people (residential and commercial) have found other uses for VersaTube buildings to suit their needs perfectly. As a matter of fact, last year when the Lansing, MI Ford Airport was undergoing construction, they used a VersaTube building to create a covered walkway to protect pedestrians entering the terminals, both from the construction and inclement weather.

Regardless of the size you need, VersaTube prefab garage kits will work for you. Easy for a couple of people to assemble in a weekend, you get a high quality building with an excellent warranty for the fraction of the cost of a more labor intensive structure.

Becoming more energy efficient is one step that we can make in order to have a lesser impact on the planet. Choosing energy efficient lights and appliances is a common choice for many homeowners, but one thing they tend to overlook is the energy efficiency of their roofing material.Upgrading your home to a metal roof can save you up to 40% on energy consumption by reducing the amount of cooling energy your home requires. By reflecting the sun’s rays your home stays cooler during the summer and in turn your energy bill declines. For an additional incentive the US Government is giving homeowners a tax credit when they replace their roof with an Energy Star approved metal roofing material in 2009. Qualified homeowners can get a credit of 10% of their roofing cost up to $500.A home with dark asphalt shingles absorbs the heat from the sun and then releases it when the sun goes down, increasing the temperature within your home. Metal roofing, particularly a reflective coated Energy Star metal roof will not absorb heat instead it reflects the sun’s rays keeping your home cooler throughout the day.Different types of metal roofs offer varying levels of heat reflection, so check with the manufacturer when you are looking at roofing options. The hotter the climate, the more reflective your roof should be. Most often metal roofing material will have a reflective or granular coated surface to increase the effectiveness of the roof when it comes to reflecting heat from the sun.Within your home you may also notice the benefits of a metal roof. Often older homes have moisture around the windows which can cause peeling paint and mold. Metal roofs are more effective at keeping out moisture, so these problems so be reduced. Also homeowners will find that their new metal roof is virtually maintenance free and will never crack, break or grow moss or lichens. Those who use an air conditioner to cool their homes will find that their new metal roof means less use of the air conditioner, meaning direct savings in the cost of energy as well as the ability to switch to a smaller unit for additional savings.Environmentally-speaker, a metal roof is a much more Earth friendly option than shakes or shingles. Metal roofs use recycled materials and can be installed over your old roof, saving valuable landfill space. When your roof is ready to be replaced (in 20 to 30 years) it can be fully recycled into new metal products. Metal roofing also reduces the occurrence of urban hot zones, which happens when the dark asphalt roofs of homes release heat in the evening, raising the air temperature. This phenomenon contributes to poor air quality and smog, so choosing a metal roof can actually make the air around your home cleaner. It is easy to see why metal roofing has become so popular with all of its benefits. Better for the environment, easier to maintain and now with a tax credit for 2009 perhaps it’s time for a new roof on you home.

Building a shed is fairly simple, only basic carpentry skills are required. This can be a project many homeowner can do themselves in a couple of weekends.
If you have never built anything before, learning how to build a shed for the first time should be no problem. A shed consist of a fairly simple structure. You can easily learn the kind of construction that is involved by surfing the net for free shed plans. By doing so you will get a good idea of what is involved in the building process. Once you study some plans you should get a good idea if you will be able to take on this project.
If you feel building a shed is beyond your carpentry skills, consider a pre-fabricated shed kit. All the parts will come pre-cut, and ready for assembly. A shed kit will include all the frame, siding, doors, and windows. The most common materials used for these shed kits will be wood, vinyl or metal.
Another option to consider is finding a design you like, and buying the plans. You can show the plans to some of the local handymen in your area, and get some estimates for the labor.
Once you are ready for the construction, finding a good location will be the first step. Finding a place that will blend in with your home and landscaping is ideal. Also keep in mind the style of your shed for best results. Avoid locations were there might be utility lines. Having the shed on top of utility lines will make it difficult to get to in case repairs will need to be made.
Determine what the shed will be used for, to get an idea of the size you will need. Walk around your property with your tape measure, and choose a location that will be adequate. Clear and level the area you have chosen.
If you will be constructing on a skid foundation, digging four inches down and filling it with gravel is recommended. By adding about four inches of gravel the foundation will have less moister and last longer.
In conclusion, most homeowner should be able to take on building a shed from scratch. The tools required are common to most households. Make sure you have the time and the patience.
Find some plans, you will find many different styles of plans online. Find the best design that will fit your landscape, and will not be to difficult for you to build. All plans should come with detailed drawings, dimensions, and a material list.
Before you begin, take your time to study the plans. Get familiar with the steps involved. Go over the material list to get an idea how much this project will cost.
Study and get a good understanding of the plans and material list, take your time to measure and cut all of the parts. Once you have all the material cut, assembly will be a breeze.
Building your own shed will not only save you money, you will have the satisfaction knowing it was built by you.
Always remember to check if any permits will be required. Different cities have different requirements, so remember to find out your requirements, or if a permit will be needed.
