Additions inside or outside your home can mean extra dollars of value should it come time to sell one day.
There are certain items that absolutely add value, especially if they are considered to normally be standard items. not the least of these is a garage. To build a garage when there has been none before, actually adds almost double value to your home.
First, since a garage is considered a standard feature, your home will lose some value without one. With a garage added, it will regain that value. In addition, with proper thought, you may add even more value by considering additional functions that can be provided by your garage and building those in. New homeowners who are saddled with their garage that was a part of the original construction, may later wish their garage could provide double duty as some other function but cannot provide it without drastically altering the appearance of the home.
So, an important consideration is, what are the functions this building can provide?
Also, what materials are best suited for this building? (Hint, will the garage be an attached part of the home? If so, use similar construction materials).
Considering the functions, what is the best size? (Remember to keep the size in proportion to the house, for the best appearance)
Again, considering function, will your garage need to be heated and/or cooled?
In addition, will it need to be insulated and have a finished wall inside?
Will it need electrical power service installed in it?
These are just a few of the things to think about when building a garage, whether it be from a metal building kit or conventional construction.
